Reconnect With Live Music

Roots in Motion is an organization run by guitarist Dan Nicholas, who was based in the the Netherlands for almost 20 years, and now splits his time between New York City and coastal Maine. Nicholas is a professional jazz musician and a great fan of a variety of different kinds of music. His passion for live music and a desire to create performance opportunities for traveling artists led him to form Roots In Motion, whose goal is to connect audiences with 

artists whose playing reflects the musical roots of jazz in intimate and social environments that evoke the music’s cultural roots. Roots In Motion was founded on a belief that livemusic is an essential aspect of culture. Our motivation is to share live music with the general public, as well as the enthusiast and the connaisseur. Our audience are participants at our events, not observers. The connection between musicians and audience is THE fundamental aspect of live music performance.
